Before the Forestdale kids went on Spring Break, all grades
got to study about the Old Testament Tabernacle. They discussed how what seemed
like a ginormous tent was just an earlier form of our Church that we attend
every Sabbath. They examined the different design that included the Holy and
Most Holy Place. Since Easter was fast approaching, one of the biggest areas of
conversation was the lamb that was sacrificed. After explaining the process and
how God approved the sacrifice, the students were encouraged to think about why
we don’t do that today. Can you imagine coming to church each week with a precious
lamb? An innocent lamb being slain for our sins seems almost cruel. Yet that’s
exactly what our Savior, Jesus Christ, did for you and me.
Though our tabernacles may not look exactly like the one
from the Old Testament, we still understand and appreciate our “new” church and
what that place of worship means to us.
